The Maryland Society of Portrait Painters has recently been invited to display work at City Hall in Annapolis, MD. The title of the show “Humanity” invites members to exhibit art that reflects the human spirit through use of the figure and portraiture.  This is a non-juried exhibit and acceptance into the show will be determined by the order of entry. Space is limited for this exhibit and acceptance into the show will be given on a first come, first served basis.  Members may enter up to three artworks in the exhibit.  We will do our best to allow as many artists in who want to participate and will allow multiple works from each as space determines.

QUALIFICATION: Open to all MSPP members in good standing

FEE: $15 for up to 3 works.  Pay via Paypal at www.mdspp.com

IMPORTANT DATES:

Entry Deadline: September 12, 2018

Notifications: September 14, 2018

Drop off: morning of October 3, 2018, 9:00am-10:30am

Opening Reception: Monday, October 8, 2018, time TBD

Pick Up: November 28, 2018, 9:00am-4:00pm

SUBJECT MATTER:  Open to all subject matter relating to portrait and figure.  Must be original to the artist and not completed in a classroom setting.  Nudes will not be allowed in this exhibit.  

DEADLINE: Submit before 11:59pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018

SUBMISSION FORMAT (Deadline: 11:59pm, September 12, 2018):

1. Email your images to info.at.mspp@gmail.com with “CITY HALL ” in the subject line . List images in PRIORITY ORDER, 1 being your preference.

2. Submit 1 jpeg image per work entered;  file size: 2-3 megabytes

3. Label files as: 1.degas.e_dancer20x30$500.jpeg (Use order of priority for number)

4. Include in the body of your email: 
Your full name, email address and cell phone (for day of delivery and pick-up)

GUIDELINES:

• Entering this exhibition shall constitute understanding and agreement on the part of the artist with the conditions stated.

•Drawings, paintings, original prints on paper (not reproduced artwork, i.e. giclée) and sculpture completed within the last 3 years will be accepted

•Nudes will not be accepted.

•All work must be created and conceived by the artist, no work created in classroom setting will be accepted. No photography, computer generated art, art done in a class, workshop or under supervision is eligible.  All other media is accepted and encouraged, both 2D and 3D.  Sculpture entries may include up to 3 views of the same piece.

•Works previously exhibited in a MSPP show are ineligible.

•Only digital entries will be accepted

•Images should only be of the artwork, DO NOT include matting, frame, etc in the image

 

FRAMING:

•ALL WORK MUST BE PROPERLY FRAMED AND WIRED, ready to hang.  MSPP reserves the right to refuse unacceptable frames, i.e., wood strips, lack of wires. 2-D work must have a frame with a secure wire or hooks on the back to accommodate the gallery’s hanging system. No clip-on or poster frames. No gallery wrapped or painted canvas sides. Entries mounted behind glass without frames will not be accepted. Work not in compliance may be turned away and not allowed into exhibit.

ARTWORK DROP OFF: Wednesday, Oct 3, 9:00am- 10:30am at Annapolis City Hall, 160 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401.  

ARTWORK PICK UP: Wednesday, November 28, 9:00am – 4:00pm at City Hall in Annapolis. 

COMMISSION: No commission is taken on this exhibit, all sales go directly to benefit the artist.

DETAILS: Artwork will be handled with utmost care during the exhibit.  However, neither MSPP or City of Annapolis will be responsible for damage or loss of any cause.  Insurance, if desired, is the responsibility of the artist.
